Namjoon
‘So she just left?’ Yoongi asked as he looked at me and Hoseok in disbelief. ‘How could she just leave?’ he asked again, a sense of anger in his voice.
‘She thinks she is protecting us. That she is luring them away from us and towards her,’ Taehyung said as he played with a cigarette which I knew was his way to hide his worry.
‘Still, she should have known that we can protect ourselves and we would protect her. Like this, she’s putting herself out like a sitting target,’ Jimin argued, sounding frustrated.
‘Try to put yourself in her shoes,’ Jin began, making everyone turn their eyes on him. ‘She saw someone she cared about beaten and hanged. The only reason Lux was killed was to get to her, to get into her mind and they succeeded,’ Jin said.
‘She was devastated with that,’ Hoseok said. ‘I never saw her like that, not even when her parents were murdered or Yeonjun got badly hurt,’ he said as I heard Yeonjun sigh.
‘She’s always been good at keeping her emotions in check. Domina Vindictae, she used to punish them if they showed emotions because she believed emotions made you weak,’ Yeonjun said, sounding as if his own heart was breaking.
‘Damn that monster. I swear if I ever see her…’ Hoseok began, a flash of anger passing on his face. I saw Myung put a hand on his knee, hoping to calm him down.
All of us knew how much Hoseok cares about Hanuel. We all knew there is much more than they seem to realize. I would even dare to call it love but they both lost so much that they are afraid to admit it to each other. God knew how he must be feeling right now. I shook my head, trying to focus on Yeonjun. The last time Yeonjun followed his heart, he ended up almost dying.
‘Yeonjun, I know right now your mind is going one hundred miles an hour but I don’t want you doing anything without telling me, understood?’ I asked and he nodded.
‘I know hyung. I just… I want my noona back. I spent too many years looking for her, hoping to get her back and now I have. I can’t lose her again,’ he said, balling his hands into fists.
‘You won’t,’ Hoseok said quickly. ‘We’ll find her. I… I promised her that I will always have her back,’ he added.
‘And we will. Yoongi, do you think you can track her?’ I asked and he sighed.
‘I will try but we know Hanuel. She most likely won’t make it easy for us,’ he said and I nodded. I knew she knew all the tricks that we used.
‘There is a place she usually goes to whenever she is upset or angry. A place she goes to even when me and her argue – her own safe space so to say, but I’m not sure she’ll go there,’ Hoseok said.
‘Might be wise to check just in case and—’ I said before I heard an alarm go off. I looked at my laptop as my eyes went wide. ‘*,’ I said as I inched closer.
‘What? What’s going on?’ Jungkook asked as he stood to come next to me.
‘One of our warehouses just caught on fire,’ I said as I checked. ‘Dammit, it’s the one with the new cars,’ I said.
‘Do you think it’s a distraction for something more?’ Jin asked and I nodded.
‘It could be. We’re going to need to split up. Hoseok, Yeonjun go find Hanuel. Yoongi try to track her. Jin, Jimin, stay with Myung and Logan, make sure they are well guarded. Taehyung, Jungkook – you two come with me to the warehouse,’ I said, issuing orders.
Everyone nodded as we all stood up, ready to get to work. I watched as all the others left the room and I turned to Myung who looked concerned. I pulled her into my embrace as I hugged her tight.
‘Are you okay my love?’ I asked as I heard her sigh. ‘Talk to me yeobo,’ I encouraged as I kissed the top of her head.
‘I’m worried for Hanuel, Namjoon. That girl, she went through so much already, much more than anyone deserves to go through. I’m scared that that * will go after her and I’ll admit, a part of me is also afraid of the Scarlets coming to us, to use us against her,’ she said.
‘I know baby and I am scared too. I know Hanuel is doing this to protect all of us but I don’t want her losing her life for us,’ I admitted.
‘She really did become someone so important for all of us, hasn’t she?’ Myung said with a small smile to which I nodded.
‘Definitely. From the moment she saved you and our little Logan and beyond that. I just, I admire her a lot – her strength and her will power. I wish she knew how much we valued her,’ I said.
‘We have to get her back Joon. I would never forgive myself if something happens to her just so we’re safe,’ she said and I nodded.
‘We’ll find her. Let’s focus on one thing at a time hmm. You’ll be well-protected here, no one can come from outside without setting off alarms or cameras and Jin and Jimin will stay with you too,’ I said and she nodded.
‘You be careful too,’ she said. I smiled as I pecked her lips gently.
‘I will. I love you,’ I said, giving her yet another kiss. She kissed back and squeezed me a little.
‘I love you too,’ she said.
Jennie
I watched as everyone went to their part. Jin and Jimin were with Myung and Logan in Namjoon’s office. Namjoon, Taehyung and Jungkook went to check that fire and Yoongi was in his office room, tracking that stupid girl while Hoseok and Yeonjun were checking her usual place.
Hanuel made things even easier for me without realizing – stupid girl. I could almost laugh out loud at how well this is working. Domina Vindictae was right – Hanuel is much weaker than I thought she is. She told me that if she tugged at her heartstrings, Hanuel would run. She’s such a coward!
I looked at my wrist watch. It had been thirty minutes since they had left the mansion. I looked at the tray of drinks and grabbed it. I headed towards Namjoon’s office and knocked on the door.
‘Oh Jennie, hi,’ Jimin said as he opened the door further, letting me in.
‘Hey. I know everyone is worried about Cherry and the fire right now but I thought I’d at least bring you something to drink,’ I said.
‘Ohh thank you!’ Myung said as she instantly stood up. She grabbed a drink as did the others.
‘Thanks Jennie,’ Jin said as he offered me a small smile. ‘We really needed this,’ he said, laughing a little.
‘It feels suffocating being stuck in here, especially with not knowing what is going on,’ Myung said as she sat back down.
‘I can imagine. Do you think they will find Cherry before the Scarlets get to her?’ I asked as I forced myself to look worried.
‘I hope so but we know Hoseok. He won’t stop until he finds her,’ Jimin said with a sigh but also a smile. I felt my heart squeeze in anger and jealousy.
‘Yeah. She means too much for him for him to lose her. I bet he even loves her but doesn’t want to admit it,’ Jin said. Once again, I felt my stomach churn.
‘I think it’s the same with her. I think she loves him too but she’s been through so much that she is scared to let herself love and be loved,’ Myung said.
‘Hmm could be I guess. I don’t know if they’re a good match though, they’re so different from one another,’ I said, unable to bite my own tongue.
‘Actually, they’re not. They’re quite similar, maybe more than they realize,’ Jin said.
‘They’re both willing to go to any lengths to protect the people they care about and love,’ Jimin said as Myung nodded.
‘Yeah and ow,’ Myung said as her hand flew to her head. Jin and Jimin both looked at her concerned.
‘You okay Myung?’ Jin asked as he went to go closer to her. I saw him wobble on his legs but he seemed to pay more attention to Myung.
‘Yeah just um, ow, my head is hurting,’ she said as she rubbed her head.
‘Mine is hurting too,’ Jimin complained as he went to stand up but his knees buckled, forcing him to go down to the floor.
‘Jimin!’ Jin called out to him as he tried to go next to him. He turned to look at me as he eyes me strangely, almost as if unsure or as if he was not seeing me clearly. ‘Wh—what did you do? What did you put in our drinks?’ he asked just as Myung’s head fell on the table.
‘Nothing Jin. Just a sleeping drug,’ I said as both Jin and Jimin started to collapse. I watched as all three of them were asleep.
‘I’m sorry but I have no other way. Hoseok is a fool who got blinded by that assassin’s charm. I have to save him from her and make him come to me,’ I said as I walked over to the crib.
I looked at Logan who was happily sleeping. I sighed once more as I reached over for him. I picked him up gently in my arms as he moved slightly, bringing himself closer to my chest.
‘I’m sorry little Logan but you won’t be hurt, I promise,’ I said as I walked over to the bookcase. I smiled at how cheesy this was as I pulled the “secret” book that uncovered the door. The book case turned slightly, opening slightly, allowing me to go through the passage.
I started walking through the secret passageway that was meant to be used as an emergency exit. I hurried until I reached outside. I saw three females, wearing cloaks, waiting for me.
‘Ah you’re finally here,’ Domina Vindictae said as she looked at me and Logan. ‘I see you managed to get the child out of the house without problems. I’m impressed,’ she said.
‘I told you I had it handled. I will get you Hoseok too. You promise you won’t hurt them, right? You’re only going to use them as bait, right?’ I asked.
‘Of course little Jennie. After all, we both want Umbra gone for different reasons. I want her head and you want your man,’ she said.
‘He cannot find out I was involved,’ I said and she nodded.
‘Of course. Now hand me the child,’ Domina Vindictae said. I nodded as I gave her Logan. I saw her smile slightly as she nodded and then slipped away.
